Basic Rules for Image Description in the Duolingo English Test
- Be Specific and Clear
Describe exactly what you see - Use Present Continuous Tense
Talk about what is happening in the photo using “is/are + verb-ing.” - Focus on Key Elements
Mention 3–4 clear things: people, objects, actions, or background. - Organize Your Thoughts
Start with the main subject, then describe the background or setting. - Keep it Simple and Correct
Don’t use complex vocabulary if you’re unsure. Accuracy is better than flair.
